I have been a mediator for over twenty years, and I still consider it a privilege to be trusted with people’s most difficult disputes. I am based in Italy, but much of my work happens elsewhere: around 180 mediations a year, many cross-border and involving substantial claims under major institutional rules. I travel wherever the parties need to meet, and work online when that serves them better.
I know how draining a long dispute can be. Some are complex on paper, others because of what they mean to the people involved; most are both. I am pragmatic about the commercial stakes and attentive to the human and cultural factors that so often decide the outcome. When useful, I work on the substance alongside the parties, helping them weigh their options and find terms that can actually close the gap. The decisions always remain theirs.
Teaching keeps me honest. I am Adjunct Professor at the University of Trento School of Law, and senior faculty and trainer for leading international institutions, with hundreds of courses across more than twenty jurisdictions. I learn as much in those rooms as I hope participants learn from me.
For disputes too difficult to settle alone: commercial, IP, sports, workplace and family-business, often across borders. I listen to each party privately first, then build a negotiation that stays productive, with the right people in the room. The aim is an agreement you can rely on, and sometimes what no court can order: an explanation, an acknowledgement, or a relationship that survives.
For institutions, courts and organisations that want disputes handled well before they become crises. I help design mediation rules, court-annexed programmes and ombuds offices that people actually trust and use. I have been fortunate to do this with the United Nations, UNDP, USAID and the European Patent Office, among others.
For mediators, lawyers and organisations who want to grow in their practice. My courses are practical and personal: real cases, honest and generous feedback, plenty of practice. The range runs from university teaching to supervision and residential retreats for experienced mediators.
